If Kerry loses, you have to wonder how much the Democrats will be kicking themselves over their strategy this year. Edwards was supposed to help the presidential ticket by winning over some Southern states, especially his own. Failure there. Bowles was supposed to be able to keep the Edwards’s senate seat in the Democrat column. Failure there. And even if Edwards didn’t help too much in the South, his sunny disposition and positive message was supposed to help in other key areas. Miserable failure there, so far.
Expect a lot of “What were we thinking?” stories in the coming days if Kerry falls short.
