Barabara Ehrenreich, author of Nickel and Dimed, a book about her masquerading as a blue-collar worker in several minimum-wage jobs in order to write a book about how America sucks, told journalism graduates at UC Berkeley that they’re headed for the unemployment line, just like many blue-collar workers:

How do you think it feels to be an autoworker right now? And I’ve spent time with plenty of laidoff paper mill workers, construction workers and miners. They’ve got skills; they’ve got experience. They just don’t have jobs.
