The Burlington Times-News reports on the controversy surrounding benefits to Elon Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO):

Written information about the fundraising campaign says families making a one-time donation of $500 or monthly donations of $45 throughout the year could choose either front-row seating at school events or front-door drop-off when bringing children to school. For a one-time donation of $1,000 or monthly donations of $85, families qualified for both.

The grandfather of an Elon Elementary student brought the issue to the attention of the Times-News, and I understand his argument that “(c)hildren shouldn’t be treated one way because their parents don’t have the money to pay for them to be dropped off at the front of the school.”

Still I have to ask —- you call those perks?
