Tuesday, the Buncombe County Commissioners will be adding “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to its protected classes. If passed, nobody henceforth shall harass, recruit, hire, assign, or promote anybody on the basis of:
race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, age, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other legally protected class under federal or NC State.
I suppose county staff may still abuse employees for a number of reasons, such as an avid interest in entomology, a preference for analyzing things with numbers instead of feelings, NRA membership, or maybe participation in ballet productions.
