Sheldon Richman takes the GOP field to task for its embrace of energy fascism — that is, the idea that through regulations and taxes the government can devise an energy system that is superior to that which would emerge on the free market. You can read his piece here.

Ron Paul escapes this criticism, of course, because he doesn’t think the government has any constitutional authority to meddle in energy and shouldn’t do so even if there were such authority.

Needless to say, all of the Democratic candidates are energy fascists. In fact, I don’t think you could find any market that any one of them would say ought to be left alone.
