Several JLF experts contributed to the environmental debate this week. The American Spectator printed an article from Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato that contends both major American political parties promote a brand of “energy socialism.” The WRAL Television blog also highlighted a recent article from Cordato calling climate policy the “holy grail for social engineers.” Meanwhile, JLF Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera contributed his expertise to a Medill News Service story about colleges trying to attract students through “green practices.” Paul Chesser of Climate Strategies Watch discussed evangelical environmentalists on a radio appearance Monday with Jason Lewis of KTLK in Minneapolis. Locke Research Intern Geoffrey Lawrence contributed two articles to the climate debate. The Kansas City Star published Lawrence’s critique of the Center for Climate Strategies, while the Manchester Union Leader printed Lawrence’s discussion the problems linked to a New Hampshire climate task force. Closer to home, free-market environmentalist Richard Stroup mentioned in a commentary published in The News & Observer his recent appearance before a John Locke Foundation Shaftesbury Society audience.
