I had to read the story twice to make sure I had it right.
There won’t be a quarter-cent increase in the Orange County local sales tax rate next year.
County commissioners decided Tuesday that economic conditions would make a Nov. 4 ballot initiative on the matter a tough sell “even in progressive Orange County.”
Is it economic conditions that have the commissioners worried? Or, could it be the commissioners are still wincing over the county’s 2-to-1 shellacking of the land transfer tax earlier this year? My gut says it’s the latter.
