With their lives at stake, three young people must rely on their love and friendship to defy the forces of hate and violence that set their world ablaze in turn-of-the-century North Carolina. Join the Bastiat Society of Raleigh, in partnership with the John Locke Foundation for a special screening of “In the Pines,” a short film based on actual events. Dr. Troy Kickler, Locke’s resident historian, and head of The North Carolina History Project, will also deliver a presentation on the historic context of the Wilmington 1898 coup. He will detail the political and societal unrest that shaped this tragic time of our state’s history.
