Having a hard time understanding why the FAA would want to keep secret the airliner bird strikes of the type which plunged US Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River back in January.
In any event, the US DOT is poised to reverse any FAA move to hide bird strike data. The FAA essentially said it thought airports and airlines would lie about the frequency if the numbers were disclosed, lest the strikes cost them money.
