Funny how all the folks who want to pay Goodyear to stay in Fayetteville talk about how Cumberland County is struggling economically, but fail to mention the tremendous growth occurring now as a result of military Base Realignment and Closure.
Moore County is looking forward to the transformation
Over 20,000 military personnel, civilian workers and their family members are expected to arrive at Fort Bragg and the surrounding areas during the BRAC move. The average rank of these military personnel will be lieutenant colonel, and Fort Bragg will have its first 4-star general. Some of the companies that do contract work for FORSCOM, plus logistical and supply companies, are also expected to relocate to the area. When this move is completed, Fort Bragg will be the largest Army base in the world. [emphasis added]
