Some faces spotted outside Raleigh’s federal building drew attention today.
The latest developments remind us that both state and federal law enforcement investigations continue into matters connected with N.C. House Speaker Jim Black.
Black’s lawyer has said the speaker is not the target of the federal probe. On the state level, the N.C. Board of Elections has asked the Wake district attorney to determine whether criminal charges are warranted in connection with campaign finance laws.
In the state case, Black has consistently said he believes he did nothing wrong. He has said he believes the elections board misinterpreted state laws.
