That’s the analogy Mona Charen draws in this column today. The way Obama has approached the rising federal budget deficit is just as if he went out to Fargo and tried to help the people by turning fire hoses on the rising flood waters.

She also noters something that’s been annoying a lot of Americans, namely Obama’s lame “I inherited this deficit” line. Yes, but that is no reason to make it much larger. He inherited a lot of problems, all rooted in the high degree to which the United States has become a politicized nation. His “solutions” invariably — please show me even one exception — involve further politicization. That’s like, as Mona Charen puts it, turning on the hoses in Fargo.
