In today’s story on the “missing” Klan-Nazi shooting files, the N&R focuses on the City of Greensboro’s effort to figure just which files the Reverends are talking about:

Pat Boswell, a city spokeswoman, said there is nothing to indicate that files were destroyed.

“We’re not aware of any information missing,” she said.

Police Chief Tim Bellamy would not say Tuesday whether anyone has checked to see if files are missing.

….Boswell said it’s hard to provide specific answers about the files when it’s not clear what they were or if they even existed.

“We don’t know what these are,” she said. “That’s the problem.”

Admittedly, the city doesn’t have much credibility when it comes to locating missing documents, as evidenced by problems locating the black book memo. But at least the people requesting the memo had some idea what they were asking for. So far, it looks like the Pulpit Forum leaders don’t really know what exactly what’s missing.
