The Supreme Court upholds Indiana’s photo-ID voting laws. Note the Associated Press’ grudging admission that Republican lawmakers who have sought approval of photo IDs have been validated:

The Supreme Court has ruled that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights. The decision validates Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

It was a 6-3 vote. Just wait for this decision to be called “strongly divided.” That’s the kind of description the media use when they don’t like a court decision.

UPDATE: I was wrong. The adjective they used in a later story was “splintered,” not “strongly divided.” That’s a new one. AP gets points for creativity for that one. Imagine their surprise, too, when they found that the decision was written by John Paul Stevens, one of the court’s liberals.
