Tea Parties have been occurring across the state.  Readers might be interested in learning about some 1774 N.C. tea parties.  The Edenton Tea Party is considered to be the first organized, political effort by women in what would become the U.S.   Although they protested increased taxation, Edenton women didn’t burn tea.   A few months later, the Wilmington Tea Party occurred.  There, women actually burned tea during a tax protest.
