Couldn’t help but notice that while at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Carolyn Flowers oversaw an expansion of service to “destination locations” last year which was funded by contributions from local businesses which expected to benefit from the service, not from local tax revenue. Hmmm, what might that portend for Charlotte Center City Partners and the Uptown Gold Rush, which has sucked hundreds of thousands from CATS for the “free” service.

CCP cannot even be bothered to fully fund the Gold Rush despite the property tax revenue it collects under its mandate to “promote” Uptown. Instead, it gets to use that money to hire consultants to “plan” the next 20 years of Charlotte life. This situation has long been a scandal, and now we have yet more evidence that the rest of the world does not run this way.

Don’t hold your breath expecting a change, however.
