Christina Kelley G. Merrill’s protest of the Buncombe County District 2 election was
rejected by the State Board of Elections. Merrill now intends to appeal her contest to the Wake County Superior Court. The struggle to win the popularity contest is not warming many hearts. Challenger and apparent victor for the time being Ellen Frost remarked:
What was affirming today was that the [state] board agreed not only that there was no misconduct but the great job the [county] board did.
