As I said earlier, I realize the drought’s not over. But I still have to laugh at the vision of Guilford County Board of Education members huddling under umbrellas on their way to last Thursday’s meeting where they would discuss water conservation efforts. Par for the course, if you ask me. And now that the rain has blown out and we’re looking at sunny skies for at least the next week, the N&R reports (unposted) that the system will request funding for rain canopies for the pod village at Eastern High School. Apparently they’re expecting a wet winter.

But all this pales in comparison to the board’s discussion about the size of the new Jamestown Middle School, which is on the proposed $457 million bond. I guess it’s a good sign that the board is feeling the heat over school construction costs, but only that group could question the size of a school that was used to sell a previous bond but was never built. Typical bad form.

Funny, the Jamestown community’s a little worked up over the issue. The Chalkboard and E.C. Huey have more.
