Georgia now joins Florida, Arizona, Utah, and Ohio by offering educational options to families of special education students.  What is happening in North Carolina? House Bill 388 is slowly moving from Education Committee to Finance Committee, which is progress considering the anti choice climate in our General Assembly.
North Carolina?s bill only offers tax credits ? while the other states offer a Scholarship (voucher) to these families. House Bill 388 will help some, but not the poorest families.  Families who do not have the funds (cash flow) to float tuition payments until a refund check are still stuck with few options.  But at least the state is moving towards giving options to families, a step in the right direction. IF it gets out of committee!
