Charlotte’s aviation guru Jerry Orr might be feeling a little like the hare, with the ground transportation tortoise gaining on him.

Orr tells the UPoR that passengers at CLT should arrive extra early to deal with lines caused by new body scanners. OK. How much earlier? Say I have a domestic flight leaving at 11am today — when do I need to set foot inside the terminal? 9am? That is a guess, but if true I better be flying a multiple time-zones away.

I can cover a lot of ground at 70mph in three or four hours. If I’m not going to be flying at 300mph for several hours, the 0mph time spent in endless lines looks pretty dumb.
