That’s the question UNC-TV will explore in a story about the Golden
Leaf Foundation
, which is set to air on the public television network’s nightly newsmagazine,
“North Carolina Now,” in mid-August. This week, Don Carrington made the
case to UNC-TV’s reporter that the project was wrong-headed to begin
with, and over time, has lived up to that dubious standard. Fueled by
proceeds from the national tobacco lawsuit settlement, Golden Leaf has
become a slush fund.  Read Carolina Journal’s series on Golden
Leaf projects here.
