Gov. Perdue has vetoed a bill that clearly attempted to keep information about the bill drafting and negotiating process from the public. Good job, governor. Now we wait to see if lawmakers attempt to override the veto. If they do, that will be a vote a lot of folks will be watching very, very closely.
It isn’t possible to overestimate the value and importance of transparency in government, which is why the Locke Foundation considers it a primary mission of the organization and continually advocates for disclosure of all types of information.
