The Governor’s School description of the movie is historically wrong.

Pan?s Labyrinth (2006) R: This is a fable of
morality and character. A girl weaves in and out of the reality of
violence in the Spanish Civil War and completing tasks in an imaginary
kingdom. This film is rated R for language and some violence.

As clearly noted in the reviews, the movie is about 1944 Spain under Franco.  The Spanish Civil War was between 1936 and 1939. And we trust the best and the brightest high school students to these teachers?
