My son is planning to purchase an expensive piece of software and just attempted to get a technical question answered — but gave up the call when he realized the person on the other end was reading from a prepared script.

I thought his off-the-cuff suggestion was a great idea:

What if you could press 1 to talk with a native English speaker, press 2 for an English-as-a-second-language speaker – but you receive a $20 discount if you press 2?

Might be worth a try somewhere.
