PPG is laying off 110 employees at its Lexington plant:
“This decision is driven primarily by the downturn in the wind energy market and the need to consolidate operations,” said plant manager Todd Douthit. “However, we’re hopeful that, given future energy needs, this business will return to Lexington.”
The Lexington plant will shut down a furnace that manufactured fiberglass for wind turbines.
