Guarino weighs in on legislation that just passed the House that reduce the size of the Guilford Board of Commissioners from 11 to nine.

The N&R article is still unposted, but I’ll pass along the quote from Rep. Alma Adams:

We have a lot of problems in Guilford,” said Rep. Alma Adams, a Greensboro Democrat, who referenced a recent report by CNN on racial tensions in Greensboro. “This is just going to exacerbate what’s going on. As far as I’m concerned, it is about race.”

I wonder how Rep. Adams would feel about a seven-member commission. The High Point Enterprise reminds us the seven-member board worked just fine in the day. With that in mind the lead editorial says “(n)ow seems to be the proper time to reasonably address the logistical nightmare that having 11 members has been and return the board’s size to seven.”
