Guilford County has made a bold statement that should reverberate across the state saying NO to non-profits and even economic development in their just approved budget.
Gone are $2.5 million in extra money for the schools, a proposed
electronic house-arrest program, some inspections workers, and the
entire community and economic development department, although
employees there will be reassigned elsewhere. (From Greensboro News and Record)
They turned down museum funding, arts programs. In fact, they turned down 15 non-profits who had become accustomed to getting taxpayer money rather than actually working for it.
Imagine, actually spending taxpayer money on taxpayer services? Kudos!!!!
