The House passed gun control legislation in response to the Virginia
Tech shootings.  I don’t know all the details so I’m withholding
judgment.

However, I find this passage from the following AP story to be “slightly” biased:

“If
it moves through the Senate and is signed into law by the president,
the bill would be the most important gun control act since Congress
banned some assault weapons in 1994, the last year Democrats controlled
the House.”

This hard news account informs us that the bill is:

1) The most important gun control bill since 1994; and

2)
If you want important gun control laws, you need Democrats–they
controlled the House in 1994 when the last important gun control bill
was enacted.

The anti-Republican bias in this story is probably good for Republicans, but the author probably thinks he is slamming them.

On a side note, Rep. Ron Paul was the only House member to vote against the bill.
