Has Charlotte finally entered its Wild West phase?

A man in a South Charlotte apartment fired a shot at someone breaking into his dwelling late Monday night. CMPD later arrested two repeat felons in connection with the incident.

Derrick Brooks, 20, has multiple felony theft convictions and was charged in May 2009 with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Mecklenburg County judges have repeated sentenced Brooks to probation and allowed him to bond out on pending charges.
