Guarino says the N&R is jumping to Kay Hagan’s defense following this morning’s “Godless hissy fit.” Imagine that.
I listened to the N&R’s audio of what sounded like the entire press conference, a total of nine minutes. Seven of those minutes were a Hagan monologue about her faith and remarks from her preacher about her strong faith. When questioned by reporters, Hagan said she didn’t take money from the Godless Americans PAC and that she “certainly doesn’t believe in anything they stand for.” But Hagan didn’t give an answer when asked if she took money from the PAC’s supporters. You then have to wonder exactly why she was there.
Hagan also said she’s now talking about the fundraiser because Liddy Dole’s talking about it. But there’s a problem with that response. Dole’s been talking about this since August, and we waited and waited (and waited for the media to ask) for some explanation fron the Hagan campaign about why she was attending this “event to support” her campaign. We’re still waiting.
This was some good political grandstanding that shows all too well Hagan knows how to play the game, no matter how much she doesn’t want to admit it.
