Former Housing Authority of Winston-Salem chairman Ernie Pitt not only gets mail fraud charges dismissed but get his $84k in fines and restitution back, for which —you guessed it—-HAWS is responsible.
That’s federal housing justice justice for you. In fairness it should be mentioned that Pitt did serve 10 months in the federal pen after being convicted on mail fraud charges related to a shady land deal. And to feel too sorry for HAWS –they can just deduct Pitts’ refund from the $500k the federal government gave them just last week.
