I received the following message from my nephew’s wife.  Matt is the commander of an Apache helicopter company in Afghanistan.  If you would like to help, please give me the supplies and I will see that they are delivered.

 Thanks,  Michael

Hello everyone! I received Matt?s unit?s newsletter today and the focus was on what the unit is doing to help the Afghan locals. There are several needs for donations as the military does not pay for some of the needed supplies, since these are programs that the soldiers do on a volunteer basis.
They need the following school supplies:
Pens
Notebooks
Pencils
Erasers
Calculators

They need baby supplies for the Afghan babies brought to the military hospital (i.e. diapers, bottles, etc.)

And lastly, there is a soldier who has started something called Operation Soccer Chopper?he drops soccer balls from his Blackhawk helicopter to the Afghan children below as a gesture of kindness to the children so they will see the Americans as friends instead of occupiers. The children used to throw rocks at the helicopters when they would fly over?now when they hear the chopper blades coming, they run out with their hands up in the air waiting for soccer balls or volleyballs. So they are always in need of soccer balls or volleyballs.

If anyone is interested in donating any of these supplies, please email me and I will send you the address of the soldier who is in charge of that particular program. This is a practical way to extend God?s hand to a country in need!

Thanks, Melissa
