That’s the gist of the 2010 International Property Rights Index, which shows that countries ranked among the top 20 percent had per capita incomes of $35,676. Those in the bottom 20 percent had per capita incomes of $4,437. The next lowest quintile isn’t much better; those countries have per capita incomes of only $4,699. 

Finland tops the 2010 list, while the United States ranks No. 15. Americans trail 12 European countries, along with Canada and Singapore.

If we’re looking for ways to boost our economy, perhaps a stronger property-rights regime might be in order. I suspect DarenProperty RightsBakst would agree.
