A Democratic state senator left some contributions from optometrists off his campaign finance reports for 2002, he admitted in testimony this morning.

But Sen. Robert Holloman says he didn’t realize he needed to report the contributions.

Testimony this week has indicated that several checks from optometrists headed to Holloman’s campaign account. In some cases, Holloman’s campaign collected multiple $100 checks from the same person.

All candidates are required to disclose contributions of more than $100 from any individual. Holloman testified he did not know that rule.

Testimony this morning also shows that Holloman personally cashed two checks written to his campaign. He says that was an oversight.
