Talk about your clock-punchers. A group of lefty, anti-war demonstrators gathers periodically at the corner of Gregson and Main in Durham, right across from Brightleaf Square. They don’t exactly have signs reading “Honk if you hate America,” but they might as well have. Anyway, I was requested by my blogger daughter to get some photos and video for her use in a vlog later this week. I got there at precisely 1 p.m. and they were all packed up. I heard they gathered at noon. Boy, that’s some commitment. Needless to say, I didn’t get any photos or video.

What reminded me of this crew was a post by Aussie blogger Tim Blair. He quoted outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s recent column in The Daily Telegraph, in which the PM comments on a discussion he had with an anti-war zealot recently about ongoing difficulties in Iraq (emphasis added):

And the only reason it is difficult still is because other Muslims are using terrorism to try to destroy the fledgling democracy and, in doing so, are killing fellow Muslims.

Why aren’t they angry about the people doing the killing? The odd thing about the conversation is I could tell it was the first time he’d heard this argument.

I’m sure the Brightleaf bozos would have the same blank looks on their faces if confronted by Tony Blair.
