Funny how High Point bends over for other companies but still doesn’t want Moses Cone on its turf. What, is an emergency room not considered economic development?

Yeah, I know, High Point Regional’s motivations are driven by competition and the free market, things I thought weren’t supposed to exist in the world of medicine. With that in mind, the most interesting comments came from Frida Springs of Forsyth Medical which, also faced opposition from HPR when it tried to expand into Kernersville:

“This decision (about Cone) affirms the changing environment in health care regulation.
The era of hospitals blocking competing facilities to protect market share at the expense of patient choice is fortunately coming to an end. This will require all of us to be more focused on patient care and patient satisfaction.”

We can only hope.
