From the Rhino’s account of the recent Five Points neighborhood meeting regarding the possible location of a state mental hospital on Greensboro Road:

Jorge Dominicis, the president of GEO Care, and the senior vice president of The GEO Group Inc., its parent company, made his strongest pitch that the mental health hospital, which is slated for a 21.8-acre lot that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners have signed a contract to sell to the company for $3.1 million, would be good for the neighborhood.

….The audience argued over whether the hospital should be called a hospital, a jail or a nuthouse. The last irritated Dominicis.

“Butner is a psychiatric institute,” he said. “It is not a nuthouse.”

I can only assume from reading that account that some in the audience literally referred to the hospital as a ‘nuthouse.’ Perhaps I missed something. At any rate, the High Point Enterprise says the hospital is not the best use for the land, which is being eyed for mixed-use development.

The Enterprise adds the city “should be able to find another suitable site for GEO Care within the High Point city limits (perhaps the backyards of those who have criticized residents of the Five Points area for resisting might even provide a more suitable site)….”
