Joey Chestnut beat Takeru Kobayashi in an, er, eat-off, to win the annual hot dog eating contest at Nathan’s on Coney Island. The two were tied a 59 dogs and had to go into a 5-dog overtime, which Chestnut won. This is Chestnut’s second consecutive victory after defeating Kobayashi last year and ending the Japanese eating champ’s six-year winning streak.
Hot dogs, July 4th, competition, an American victory. It doesn’t get any better than that.
