A few weeks ago I criticized an introductory course in American Politics and Government at NC State for tilting left, way left. The professor’s  readings and supplementary material were one-sided, “progressive,” and activist. The professor challenged me to show my sincerity by recommending improvements (actually, he dropped a few of the most extreme materials before my article came out). Thanks to a very helpful source, Jenna Ashley Robinson, who has taught such a course at three schools (and undoubtedly taken one as an undergraduate), I have come up with a guiding principle: Use current policy examples for illustration not debate. Seems simple, and it should be.
