Sorry, couldn’t resist that. As I was driving to work I heard on the radio that President Bush was hosting Chinese President Hu Jintao at the White House.
The announcer said, “Bush greeted Hu today..” which immediately put me
in mind of Abbott and Costello. The headline on the AP story did the
same: “Bush Welcomes Hu to White House.”
Which
reminds me of another funny joke about a visiting Chinese leader. Jiang
Zemin, Communist Party General Secretary, was visiting San Francisco
and a delivery had to be made to his room and the delivery person
asked: “Can you direct me to Zemin’s room?” Badumbum!
