When Newsweek?s Jonathan Alter wants to criticize former Vice President Dick Cheney, I say, ?Fine.? It?s entirely plausible to craft a reasonable argument against Cheney?s notions that we needed ?enhanced interrogation techniques? to fight terrorism in the aftermath of 9/11.
But Alter just makes himself look silly when he accuses Cheney of issuing ?vicious slurs against the president.? Really? Based on this parenthetical example: ?He?s ?soft? and not protecting America??
We also learn from Alter?s piece that Grover Norquist is ?the conservative Leninist.? Huh?
Maybe Alter ought to stick to the one area where he?s done some real good: exposing the negative impact of teachers? unions.
