Here?s some fun breakfast-table conversations in Roanoke Rapids about the results of last week?s balloting:
Wade Hockaday discussed the election results while eating his breakfast at Oscar’s Restaurant this morning. “I’m happy,” he said.
When asked if there was one issue that caused him to rally behind Bush, he responded plainly, “It wasn’t the war. I thought about Kerry’s wife and her business is all over the world. Heinz Ketchup is made in Mexico. This election proved that moral issues are more important than people think, and the silent majority spoke louder than anyone expected.”
John Williams sat across the table and nodded in agreement. “I voted for Bush,” he said. “I was shocked that (Kerry) took it as well as he did and gave up.”
Jim Martin sat at a nearby table. “I ain’t got no opinion,” he said.
“It’s my way of speaking, but I don’t care what they do.”
But governor, you used to care. What?s happened to you?
