The AP is reporting “robust turnout” in Durham County this morning, and also relates this incident:

(Durham incumbent district attorney Mike) Nifong had a brief run-in at a Durham polling place when the prosecutor attempted to shake the hand of the Blue Devils’ radio announcer. Bob Harris jumped into his car and was visibly upset when he noticed a television cameraman filming the exchange. Harris called county sheriff’s deputies, who arrived at the scene but took no action.

Nifong has insisted that the election should not be a referendum on the Duke case. But some voters made it clear that it was.

“The majority have been very friendly. There have been a few people who have not,” said a cheerful Nifong.
