The Weekly Standard’s question to Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) about a component of the president’s so-called “jobs” bill is revealing:

“Will all of that money be going toward teachers’ salaries?” THE WEEKLY STANDARD asked Reid at the Capitol this afternoon. ” Will any of it be going toward infrastructure of schools, school supplies, [or] iPads?”

“It will be up to the states to determine what to do with that money in the area of education,” Reid replied. “As long as it’s focused on teaching.”

In other words, to Sen. Reid, it’s about more money, plain and simple.

If you’d like to know some facts about the president’s plan, which he has said would save jobs of North Carolina teachers, cops, and firefighters, then read this update to Don Carrington’s story about the jobs bill. Carrington asked  for clarification of the jobs numbers from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and he got it.
