The Campaign Spot’s indispensible Jim Geraghty points out that a growing number of Democrats are running so far away from Nancy Pelosi that they’re making noises as if they would not re-elect her speaker in 2011. At least one candidate has promised as much.
In North Carolina, 7th District incumbent Mike McIntyre has run an ad saying, “I don’t work for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or anyone else.”
11th District Rep. Heath Shuler has even offered himself for the speaker’s job.
Still, as Carolina Journal reported in June, no incumbent Tar Heel State Democrat has said definitively that he would not re-elect Pelosi if the opportunity presents itself.
If that’s the next step the incumbents take, you know they’re in serious trouble. The obvious follow-up: Who would you support?
