Always good to be home.

*Walked into a friend’s house in Baltimore. No TV, Internet was down until next week. Ouch. Read two entire NYT print editions —- cash for clunkers went broke, eh? Finished one book—- a damn good case that Lance Armstrong dopes —- and picked up another. I can’t figure out if Charles Frazier is a brilliant writer or I if could sit around and make that stuff up if I only had the time. Methinks the former.

*Have the higher-ups silenced the O’Reilly-Olbermann feud?

*A little one comes out of the stall at a Maryland truck stop and tells me someone wrote something bad about out president —-“Obama’s an idiot and so is everyone who voted for him.” Yes, that’s very bad, said I.

I reemed ‘Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me’ last fall, but today’s show was very entertaining and helped me catch up on the news as I sat in D.C. traffic. P.J. O’Rourke helped balance out the panel, however…..

*Yes, yes, I thought the same thing when I read that Joe Biden had a Bucklers at the Beer Summit. What’s the point of even showing up? PJ O’Rourke said he was ready for the bong summit…..

*John Hammer says the “stupidity” of a special City Council meeting “cannot be underestimated.” Pretty harsh, considering the fact that Mayor Yvonne Johnson called it to hear a pitch for a $500 million garbage incinerator at the White Street landfill from a company that’s three months old and “lists as its official address the home address of the managing member of the company…..”

*Greensboro City Council member Sandra Anderson Groat said in court that she’d pay the money she owes building supply company Pegram-West if she had it. The jury interpreted that statement to mean she really owed it.
