I know because I looked.

Guilford County Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen is taking some heat from commenters for releasing the names and addresses of 4500 residents who could be holding fraudulent mortgages.

I realize this is public record, but note how Thigpen talks about “suspicious” documents, while the N&R emphasizes “apparent” mortgage fraud—- what about people with their names on a “list” for the world to see when they actually have solid mortgages?

It’s also different from the obituaries, divorces and births, which I read pretty religiously, not to mention the Rhino’s list of salaries of public employees, who I’m sure don’t like having their personal business published in the paper. But all that’s fact. Based on the language, it seems like this list isn’t based completely on fact.
