Insert cliche’ of your choice, but here’s proof that economic incentives are, uh, a double-edged sword:

Davidson County workers at a window manufacturer in Salisbury may lose their jobs as the company, which relocated from Lexington to Rowan County four years ago after receiving an incentives package, hits the road again for Florida after getting a more lucrative incentives offer.

Late last week, PGT Industries informed workers that the Rowan County operation would close by the middle of next year, eliminating 490 jobs. The company made the decision to relocate the Piedmont operation to Sarasota County, Fla., after receiving an incentives offer that could top $1 million…

Needless to say it’s ironic that Davidson County should be on the arse-end of both deals, considering the fact that they offer up economic incentives to anyone who will listen.
