Seems policy makers in Colorado have taken an interest in the recently released report Tough Choices or Tough Times. Ben DeGrow, education policy analyst for the Independent Institute, wrote an excellent evaluation of the reforms promoted by the report. My journal entry for the week of Dec. 21st mentioned some of my concerns. DeGrow makes a compelling point for those who want to simply reject the report and move on. He stated:

The strongest lovers of educational freedom may want to reject the report, but they at least should seek to inject a bit of wisdom first. We can start on the common ground that the current system needs some serious repair. . . . Those who believe in the transforming power of choice and competition should find a platform and join the conversation.
