Yet another unflattering inside view of the N&R emerges. Ex-employee Marcus Green’s situation is right up metro columnist Lorraine Ahearn’s alley, but somewhow I don’t think we’ll see a column on the subject.

Here’s my question: How many editorial writers does the N&R need? The op-ed page lists four, not including editorial page editor Allen Johnson, who (I would think) pens his share of editorials. You’ve got Doug Clark, who writes a weekly column and maintains a blog. But then you have Tracie Fellers, who writes a column twice a month, not to mention Ken Irons and Keith Monroe, who don’t write columns or manitain a blog. So that’s four writers whose daily production is two editorials with a combined length of 1300 words.

So it seems to me that the N&R could can one of the editorial writers and reinstate Green at a percentage of that salary, plus benefits.
